How are we related?Short
answer. "Don't know." Long answer. "I don't have a clue!"
Seriously. This genealogy page is geared towards the beginner.
Particularly the African American or part African American interested
in discovering their heritage, though I hope it will be helpful to all
who stop by.
I myself am half black with parents who split while
I was quit young. I was raised by my mother (who is caucasian) and
have little information about my fathers (who is African American) side
of the family. My mother is the official keeper of the family
archives, but through her I have developed an avid interest in
genealogy. On her side of the family she has traced us back to "B.C."
times and through her research we have discovered we're both Daughters
of the Revolution, Daughters of the Civil War, and other facts of
interest to our family. A link to explore the information and charts
regarding the STENERSONS-PITCHFORDS-DENTONS and where I fit in can be
found HERE
Given
the lack of information on my fathers side and my own ignorance in
genealogy, I'm not only starting from the beginning, I'm starting
almost completely from scratch. This gives me a unique opportunity to
share my knowledge and information with others in real time as it is
acquired! Each week (hopefully) I will post a new fact on my own
genealogy and list the tips and/or steps I used to obtain that
information. So for everyone checking in -we get to learn and uncover
our own individual mysteries together!
I've included a list of
sites I find helpful and resources no amateur genealogist should be
without. There is also a link to the genealogy my mother has traced
thus far on her side of the family HERE, as well as a link to her genealogy page with offer more advanced tips on genealogy which can be found HERE or on the sidebar for this page. Please feel free and contact me with
any questions or comments and I will do my best to answer your
questions (or refer them to my mother Lindsey). Be sure and check back
as I hope to keep this page updated weekly!
Also feel free and check out Adrie's World which depicts me in my various forms or The A-Log which is my official blog and what I think of as my "online footprint." Thanks!
